About the Founder
Nayanee Silva BEng FCA, FCMI FRSA
Nayanee Silva graduated from the University of Reading with an honours degree in Electronic Engineering and trained as a Chartered Accountant with a leading Audit and Consulting firm. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (FCA), and holds Fellowship status at the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). She has led global corporate projects in the management consulting sector. Nayanee is a coach, career guidance professional, educational consultant and mentor.
After several years in the management consultancy sector, Nayanee set up a consultancy business for technology and business consulting over 25 years ago. She has provided psychometric assessment and consultancy services for large firms and coached individuals and groups in education, careers and business. She has been a career mentor for the universities of Reading and Surrey and mentor for Wiseup Networks, the Prince’s Trust. Nayanee has worked with students in the UK, Africa, Asia, Middle East and USA; supporting international and UK-based students with applications to Russell group universities in the UK and competitive universities in the USA. Nayanee is also the Founder President of The Aspire Community Foundation – a non-profit family foundation working to improve the lives of Sri Lankan communities through sustainable development programmes in education, vocational training, entrepreneurship and welfare.
Career coaching for working professionals and managers involves support for career changes, personal and skills development.
A mother of two sons and a life-long learner, Nayanee has a in-depth understanding of education systems in the UK and internationally. Supporting her sons as a parent and advising others on everything from education to business entrepreneurship, led to her current business and volunteering ventures.
Smarter Lives was founded from the realisation that many young people, working adults and small business owners needed support and guidance through coaching and specialist knowledge to achieve success. Nayanee brings coaching techniques combined with her engineering, finance and business expertise to help clients with their career and business goals in a holistic manner. Nayanee is currently engaged in research in Environment and Sustainability, pursuing a PhD at the University of Surrey.
