Psychometrics

Psychometric Assessments are used to help measure an individual’s aptitudes and preferences for  a particular career or field.

We offer psychometric assessments for education, career development and for corporate assessment and recruitment. There are several types of online assessments available.

Career Guidance Psychometrics for Students

Psychometric assessments from two providers  are available.

Morrisby Assessments Online

These are comprehensive assessments that measure aptitudes such as verbal, non-verbal, numerical, spatial and mechanical abilities along with work preferences allowing students to make 16+ and 18+ subject choices. A comprehensive careers database and university course list allows a student to research career, higher education and vocational choices suited to their abilities and work preferences. A report of results and feedback is given to each candidate.

Morrisby Report

Morrisby Online Assessments can be taken online anywhere. A report of results is generated after the test with a feedback session on the results. This involves a career coaching session via skype or in person. Morrisby assessments are extremely useful for students aged 15+ making decisions about A level subjects and sixth form students choosing university courses.

Talent Strengths Assessments

Talent Strengths provides one of the most comprehensive suites of career guidance tools in the assessment industry.

The Advanced Explorer Report combines information from 11 different tests and assessments to provide rich information on which to base career decisions and advice.

Alternatively, a shorter assessment edition called the Standard Explorer Report is available which includes 6 tests and assessments.

Each report provides a comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s skills and abilities to help them understand their strengths and potential growth areas. The careers section identifies the key sectors that the person may prefer from a list of 24 sectors.

A list of rank ordered jobs is provided from a database of nearly 1,000 different job titles. Further information on these jobs are included within the “Career Zone”. This contains detailed information about the job role, work environment, salary range and links to associated bodies important to that job role for researching careers.

Enquiry about Talent Strengths Career Guidance Assessments

A workshop for educational psychometrics for international students applying to UK and US universities was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in July 2018. This helped several students with making post GCSE and university choices.

My daughter and I primarily sought Nayanee Silva’s help to guide her subject selection for ALs. But that is not all we received. We met her to have feedback on a report Nayanee had generated from the Morrisby Psychometrics Test my daughter had previously done through Smarter Lives. During the session Nayanee analysed the report even more thoroughly, advising her how to play to her strengths and personality. She pointed to various undergraduate degree options – many of which we had never really explored before – university choices, information on scholarships, future career guidance – in short, a lot of food for thought with relevant weblinks to look through at leisure! Many thanks Nayanee for all the help!!

TSTI - Talent Strengths Type Indicator

The Talent Strengths Type Indicator™ is the latest evolution in the understanding of personality type. The TSTI™ is a combined Type/Trait instrument that provides a deeper, richer insight into understanding personality type. The TSTI™ takes its foundation from Carl Jung’s Theory of Psychological Type (with the most well-known Jungian instrument being MBTI®). It also draws elements of its foundation from the principle works of trait theorists involved in the development of the Big 5 personality markers.

The TSTI™ is the first generation of personality type assessments to acknowledge more fully the dynamics of personality. The TSTI™ provides measurement of the traditional 16 personality types (global types) but also 20 underlying facets. Each of the 20 facets have strong convergent and divergent validity with appropriate Big 5 facet scales, giving practitioners greater confidence that they are accurately measuring what each facet purports to measure. By introducing the deeper underlying facets, an individual’s profile can acknowledge the uniqueness of the individual by having elements of their type preferences in both polar opposites of each of the 4 type ranges.
